Goblet of Fire, the fourth audiobook in the Harry Potter Audiobooks series, begins with a single theme in mind: Tournaments. First, Harry is invited to the magical. Then at Hallowe'en, when the Goblet of Fire makes its selection, Harry is amazed to find his name is one of those that the magical cup picks out. He will face death-defying tasks, dragons and Dark wizards, but with the help of his best friends, Ron and Hermione, he might just make it through - alive!
'There will be three tasks, spaced throughout the school year, and they will test the champions in many different ways. Their magical prowess - their daring - their powers of deduction - and, of course, their ability to cope with danger.' The Triwizard Tournament is to be held at Hogwarts. Only wizards who are over seventeen are allowed to enter - but that doesn't stop Harry dreaming that he will win the competition. Then at Hallowe'en, when the Goblet of Fire makes its selection, Harry is amazed to find his name is one of those that the magical cup picks out. He will face death-defying tasks, dragons and Dark wizards, but with the help of his best friends, Ron and Hermione, he might just make it through - alive!Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Audiobook. Harry Potter can't believe his good luck - he is going to the Quidditch World Cup with Hermione and the Weasleys!
The Cup is unbelievably amazing, but when a group of Death Eaters begin wreaking havoc, Harry and his friends flee into the nearby forest and are almost set-upon by Ministry officials when the three of them witness the Dark Mark being cast into the sky. Back at Hogwarts, the students learn their school is hosting the legendary Tri-Wizard Tournament, a tournament that has not been held in hundreds of years. They are soon joined by two foreign schools - Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. Three student over the age of 17 will be chosen to represent each school - students must only submit their names to the Goblet of Fire and the Goblet will choose whom it deems worthy.
Cedric Diggory, the Hufflepuff Quidditch captain, is chosen to represent Hogarts. The beautiful Fleur Delacour is chosen to represent Beauxbatons.
And Viktor Krum, famed international Quidditch player, is chosen to represent Durmstrang. But then everyone receives a shock - the Goblet of Fire spits out a fourth name, unheard of in Tournament history - Harry is to be the fourth competitor. Finding himself part of a binding magical contract, competing in a tournament where people have died, and up against challengers with far more magical experience than he, Harry is understandably worried.
Even with the help of their new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, the retired and paranoid ex-Auror Mad-Eye Moody, Harry still feels woefully inadequate. Can he make it through all three challenges? But something more sinister than the Tournament is brewing, and in the end Harry will face his greatest enemy and the magical world's greatest fear. As the world succumbed to Harry Potter fever, I watched, stupefied. I saw the first films, and whatever.
Then, while browsing in the slightly hidden area of a small town bookseller, I found this title. What the heck. Maybe if I read one of the volumes, I too could become bewitched.WELL! I couldn't put it down. Indeed, I quickly went on to devour the other books in the series, but none equalled this one.
It's full of excitement and adventure, with a clear plotline and characters you immediately adopt as your own. In fact, I think Rowling hit her pinnacle with this one, and I'm glad she did. The reader doesn't need to have started with the first three volumes to catch up, which is unusual for a middle book in a series. Just love it.The bookstore in which I found this was small and dusty, lit only by a lamp.
The rain was pouring outside. Switch the books with wands, and it could have been Ollivander's Wand Shop in Diagon Alley. Just as the wand chooses the wizard, so this book chose me.Book Season = Autumn. I love all of the Harry Potter books, of course, but if I had to pick one as a least favorite this would probably be it.
Some parts of it are very exciting and especially the climactic ending is thrilling. However, it's the first of the 'longer' Potter books, and there are a few places in which it drags a little. I don't know, I guess the whole idea of a Triwizard tournament wasn't quite as exciting to me as some of the characters in the book. The Yule ball and beginnings of romance is great, though.
Whenever Harry is around strange things are bound to happen, however this time the strange things even become serious for Harry as well as he enters the Triwizard contest without even knowing who put his name in the Goblet of fire.
When his name emerges from the goblet even the ones who are quite near to him start questioning the honesty of this young lad. You got to have three things in order to become the champion, magical powers, daring nature and ability to perform well in the time of danger.
No doubt Harry all of these in plenty as it is seen in the first books likeHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Book 1andHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Book 2but the main issue is his age and also the school never allowed him to put his name in the goblet.
So the book for the first time puts a question on the character of the boy who is known for his strong character in the world of the wizard. Although it has been Harry’s dream to win the competition of course when he would get out of it alive but cheating is not his way. Ron and Hermione’s role is not quite much this time as they most of the time just pray for their friend’s survival and they can do nothing else.
The unleashed evil and the truth about the defense art teacher are the prime aspects of this part and finally the chapter ends with a bang when Hogwarts finally has the news that the dark lord is coming back, coming to claim not only the wizarding world but also the souls of those who stood against him all these years. Jim Dale’s voice has become a fixed asset up till know for the series and one can hope that the series ends with the same rhythmic voice describing the fate of Harry Potter.
